The mission of Our Kids of Miami-Dade/Monroe is to oversee and direct a coordinated system of care in order to deliver excellence to abused, abandoned, and neglected children and their families in Miami-Dade and Monroe counties.
A Licensed Foster Home is a temporary, safe place to live until the children can be reunited with their families. The children may live with a foster family anywhere from a week to a year or longer. An adoptive family is identified if the family cannot be reunified. Foster Parents are individuals who have completed the training and requirements to provide a temporary, home-like setting for children, while their parents are working towards reunification.
Legal adoption means that the child becomes a member of your family and is no longer a part of the Foster Care System. As an Adoptive Parent, you make all decisions for your adopted child. There is a great need for adoptive families who have the patience and ability to parent teenagers, large sibling groups and children with special needs.
Volunteers are needed at the Our Kids Special Event; Provide Pro Bono Service(s) to our children/families; Assist with our Holiday Toy Drive by donating, sorting and wrapping gifts for children in foster care, etc.
