Each of Florida's 20 judicial circuits is administered by a Chief Judge who is elected by a majority of the judges in the circuit for a term of two years. Chief Judge Bertila Soto was elected as the chief judicial officer of the Eleventh Judicial Circuit of Florida in 2013. She acts as liaison with the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court in all judicial administrative matters and is responsible for the efficient and proper administration of the circuit and county courts.

A Marchman Petition is a civil procedure that allows family and friends, in cases involving a minor the petitioner is a parent or guardian to a minor, to petition the court and seek help for suspected substance abuse problem. Adults are also able to petition. Filing of a Marchman Petition can be completed by visiting the Clerks of the Court and requesting the forms.
